Earlier in January 2025, there was confusion over a draft law that seemed to restrict the ability of campervans and motorhomes (RVs) to stop or park freely across Greece. Many RV owners feared they would no longer be allowed to park near the coast — even in legal public spaces.
However, on May 19, 2025, the Ministry of Tourism issued an official clarification that confirms what’s legally allowed. The particular clarification is addressed to:
a) Ministry of Citizen Protection (Hellenic Police Headquarters, Public Order Division, Traffic Police Directorate)
b) Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport

“Clarifications regarding the implementation of paragraph 2 of article 27 of Law 5170/2025, concerning the parking of towed caravans and motorhomes”
In plain words:
“Parking a motorhome is allowed wherever car parking is permitted — including along the beach or coast, as long as there are no specific restrictions.”
More specifically, the clarification states:
“…a towed caravan or motorhome may be parked near the shoreline, at a site or space that is designed and intended for that purpose, under the same rules and restrictions that apply to all other vehicles, and in accordance with Article 34 of Law 2696/1999.”

“..ένα ρυμουλκούμενο τροχόσπιτο ή αυτοκινούμενο δύναται να σταθμεύει πλησίον του αιγιαλού σε σημείο και χώρο που είναι διαμορφωμένος και προορίζεται για τον σκοπό αυτό, με τους ίδιους κανόνες και περιορισμούς που διέπουν κάθε όχημα καθώς και σύμφωνα με το άρθρο 34 του ν. 2696/1999.”
