Paradise, Mykonos.
A nice destination in Evia Island close to Athens, fortunately not commercially exploited yet. This is Stomio Beach near Agioi Apostoloi and Petries Villages in the middle of Evia. The beach is huge partly sandy at other places covered in little stones. Water is crystal clear, few people hang out there. It is so deserted that you’d better have some food and supplies with you. To get there you need to take the Ferry from Agia Marina to N.Styra, then drive north about 40 Minutes to Petries and then follow the signs to Stomio. 29th of June: mid-term austerity measures are finally voted by the Parliament. i.e. tax increases for salaries above 12000 euro, tax increase for retired people(!), house owners are to pay additional taxes, urgent privatization of public owned companies and so on. As a result there was a big and justifiable reaction from the public, especially in Athens and Thessaloniki. A lot of street fights took place as seen on TV. Disappointed citizens vs police. Police used tear gases which are unbearable. We could not even stay at our office. So far no serious casualties. We live in the heart of Athens. Regardless of some isolated incidents, this country feels safe and is safe! This country is beautiful and worth visiting. Welcome to our Beach Report. Take the small roads and go visit the real Greek people! Greece has been victimized by the greed of the few (with unnecessary infrastructures that enriched a few and now burden the rest for years). Greece is a wonderful country that has the healthiest food in the world (not because of big international companies but because of our tradition)! We are waiting for you. Take a plane ticket and don’t book big hotels. The real people are waiting for you to enjoy their hospitality at each port, in each village! Enjoy and you will fall in love with a taste of real life!
